The Foster-Johnson Health Center is an ambulatory medical facility. It is the student's advocate for health promotion, disease prevention and early intervention of illness. The health center provides basic health care services to the Grambling State University student body by offering immediate care, medical advice, health counseling, assessment and treatment of maladies, referrals, and wellness education. A validated Grambling State University identification card must be presented when requesting services. The nursing staff is available 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, (students are seen on a walk-in basis). A physician is on campus two hours per day, 4 to 5 days per week. Students desiring consultation should report to the health center to schedule an appointment. Illnesses and emergencies that cannot be treated at the health center are referred for private care. A referral is required for medical consultation and treatment sought outside of Foster-Johnson Health Center. The student is responsible for the cost minus any charges the insurance may cover. Referrals do not apply to students treated outside of Lincoln Parish and after business hours. Faculty/staff of Grambling State University may receive limited serves such as blood pressure checks or first-aid treatment.
The purpose of Foster-Johnson Health Center is to provide compassionate, accessible and quality health care services to the Grambling State University student body and the community with a respect for confidentiality.
