M. Coleen Speed, PhD., (University of Louisiana in Monroe), DirectorM. Coleen Speed, PhD.,(University of Louisiana in Monroe), Director.  Dr. Coleen Speed is a family therapist and qualitative researcher.  I earned my doctoral degree in Family Therapy from the University of Louisiana in Monroe (2005), my M.A. in Developmental Education/Counseling from Grambling State University (1994), and my B.A. in General Studies/Social Sciences from Louisiana Tech University (1992). I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT #726) since 2004, I have taught counseling courses, psychology courses, and developmental educational courses, and supervised and trained counselors, psychosocial workers, and family therapists.  My clinical practice and recent research are focused on innovative forms of family therapy, self-identity, and psychosocial programming that develop reconstruction of individuals, and mindful techniques.  My training is based on a systemic approach with great influence by social reconstruction theory.  I believe one should incorporate whatever intervention necessary to obtain change for the individual’s life.  I also believe every person’s situation is different with different needs, and as a therapist my greatest concern is to make an impactful confident change by any means necessary.
