PRESS RELEASE: Chris Lewis Senior Exhibition November 18 – November 28, 2019

DEPARTMENT OF VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS, GRAMBLING STATE UNIVERSITY:

November 18 – November 28, 2019, Grambling State University’s Department of Visual and Performing Arts will host an exhibition entitled Dimensions Personas by Mr. Chris Lewis in Dunbar Gallery.

Mr. Lewis, a native of Monroe, Louisiana, is a Visual & Performing Arts major concentrating in Digital Art. His work is heavily influenced by Popular culture. The references in Mr. Lewis’ work are serve as illustrations of the facets of his personality, with an interest in innovative story telling. Past president of the Art Guild, Chris’ path was laid with his participation in Gifted and Talented Arts programs.

Mr. Lewis plans to pursue animation and character design post-Undergrad.

Describing Dimensions Personas, Mr. Lewis states

“Growing up, I always cherished the art of cartoons, anime, and gaming developers. Most of my work revolves around those creations, how they tell stories, drawing characters and designing their future. The objective of Dimensions Personas is to tell stories and express the individuality and lives of the characters that I create. I want to be able to share the things I cannot say to people through the works that produce.”

The public is invited to meet Mr. Lewis during his closing reception on November 26, 2019 from 4:30 – 6:00 PM, which will be held in Dunbar Gallery.

Dunbar Gallery is in the Dunbar Fine Arts Annex on Hutchinson Street in Grambling, LA.  Gallery hours are from 8 – 4:30 M-TH and 8:30 – 12:00 Noon on Friday (Closed for university holidays). PRESS RELEASE: Terrica Jackson Senior Exhibition December 2 – December 12, 2019

DEPARTMENT OF VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS, GRAMBLING STATE UNIVERSITY:

December 2 – December 12, 2019, Grambling State University’s Department of Visual and Performing Arts will host an exhibition entitled Pieces of Me by Ms. Terrica C. Jackson in Dunbar Gallery.

Ms. Jackson, a native of Ruston, Louisiana, is a Visual & Performing Arts major concentrating in Studio Art. Her work has been known for abstraction and paint splatters. She’s also known for painting what she feels, not what she sees: she paints the world dressed in ideas that are close to her heart. These experiences are synthesized in her Senior Exhibition.

Describing Pieces of Me, Ms. Jackson offers

“My work explores a series of family and friends doing regular and everyday things. I want to highlight my family in an everyday life setting, by painting them in abstract colors. Each person presented will be a piece of me or snippet in my life I want to share.”

The public is invited to meet Ms. Jackson during her opening reception on December 2, 2019 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM, which will be held in Dunbar Gallery.

Dunbar Gallery is in the Dunbar Fine Arts Annex on Hutchinson Street in Grambling, LA.  Gallery hours are from 8 – 4:30 M-TH and 8:30 – 12:00 Noon on Friday (Closed for university holidays).
