According to the Equal Justice Initiative, “The United States incarcerates its citizens more than any other country with the impact of such disproportionately impacting the poor and people of color, and doing so does not make us any safer (EJI, 2020).”
For these reasons and many others, the Department of Criminal Justice at Grambling State University is inviting you to join us for our two day conference on Criminal Justice Reform, “Bridging the Gap Between Practitioners, Researchers, and Policy Makers”.
The event will take place on March 17-18, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. in the Black and Gold Room at GSU. Along with some great keynote speakers, there will also be Mental Health and Criminal Justice Professionals, including Dr. Monteic A. Sizer and our very own President Gallot, who will be speaking on a range of topics, including:
- Making the Case for Criminal Justice Reform
- Conditions of Confinement: Challenges and Opportunities
- Ending Mass Incarceration: Sentencing and Bail Reform
- Collateral Consequences: Difficulties of Reintegration
- The Impact of Public Health Policy
While this is a lecture series sponsored by the Criminal Justice Department, this event is FREE and open to the public. We encourage any and everyone who has ever been impacted by the disproportionate mass incarceration and mistreatment of minorities to please come out. It is also open to undergraduate and graduate students majoring in the fields of social work, sociology, and psychology.
Should you have any questions or need additional information please l feel free to contact Dr. Karletta White by email at whitekar@gram.edu or phone at 318-274-2526.
Thank you and we hope to see you on March 17th.

Synopsis: Meetings is a deeply comic play about commerce, marriage and food. Hugh and Jean are married cash rich, time poor.
Business and careers are booming. Trinidad is in the wake of economic growth. However, something is bothering Hugh, maybe it’s the American tobacco company with its mysterious research and cheap cigarettes, or wife Jean who values business over people.
Elsa, a country girl and the new help. Elsa brings something else besides good cooking, something that disturbs Hugh’s soul and state of mind.
