4 Big Student Service Changes for the 2018-19 Academic Year

ICON-NEW-SERVICESWelcome week is fast approaching and most are already making football plans. In the background, four big changes are brewing that will make student life at Grambling State even better this year.

1. Internet’s Getting 20x’s Faster
By spring 2019, Grambling State’s campus will get a major update to its internet speed to support the expanding student population and lay the groundwork for its digital library.

Machines for Students Housed on Campus
The days of quarters and laundry piles are coming to an end for students housed on Grambling State’s campus. At the close of the Fall semester, pilots of the University’s all-inclusive laundry machines (no coins needed, just a button click) will begin with an expected roll-out to all on-campus housing facilities by April 2019. In addition, students will be able to monitor and get alerts about their laundry from any smart phone.

3. McCall Dining grows into a “Center”
What’s the difference between a dining “hall” and “center?” The answer’s inside. In addition to maintenance and cosmetic updates, McCall, better known as “the café,” will offer expanded food options in the main area and a rebranded eatery that replaces “Cash Street.” Want a first look at the new name and branding? Follow Grambling1901 on Facebook for a first peek in mid-August.

4. More Free Shuttle Service for Students
The upgrades to GSU shuttle service will continue this fall, including more trips for students, new vehicles, and additional drivers in the Spring. For updates on service times, routes, and scheduling visit GSU’s Office of Transportation.
