Dine Brands Global (Applebee’s & IHOP) CIO Adrian Butler to Serve Industry Leader

GRAMBLING, LA – June 5, 2019 – This Spring Grambling State University alumnus, Adrian Butler joined the growing list of minority executives breaking historic barriers in corporate board service. With his appointment to the Potbelly’s Corporation Board of Directors, Butler’s service will help advance the growing uptick of African-Americans and other minorities who are serving on corporate board.

“We’ve known for generations that we’ve produced world-changing talent who have the power to grow any organization,” said President Rick Gallot who was also recently appointed to the board of Origin Bank. “Mr. Butler’s appointment is another positive sign that corporations are getting the message that diversity isn’t an option, it’s an advantage.”

According to 2018 Black Enterprise study, 37% of S&P 500 companies still do not have an African American their boards. However, the Alliance for Board Diversity reports that the number of Fortune 500 companies with greater than 40 percent diversity has doubled since 2012.

“Corporations are headed in the right direction,” said President Gallot. “We’re seeing more interest from large partners like CenturyLink and IBM who know investment in diversity begins at the top.

In a recent press release, Dan Ginsberg, Chairman of the Board for Potbelly’s Corporation commented, “We are very excited to welcome Adrian to our Board of Directors. His extensive business experience and exceptional qualifications will be a tremendous asset to Potbelly. We look forward to his contributions as we execute our strategic priorities and enhance value for shareholders.”
