Grambling State University shares game day details for attendees

Masks required, clear bag policy will be enforced

GRAMBLING, La. – March 18, 2021- As Grambling State University fans make preparations to attend the March 20 football game against the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, guidelines will be in place to ensure festivities can be enjoyed safely. With the well-being of students, fans, visitors, employees, and players as the top priority, the institution will continue to comply with all state and government mandates. Venues like Eddie G. Robinson Memorial Stadium have been allowed 50% capacity and will be governed by the guidelines listed below.

Prior to attending the game, fans are asked to perform a self-assessment based on CDC best practices and recommendations and stay home if sick. People who are at higher risk for complications from COVID-19 are strongly encouraged not to attend live events. Symptoms to watch for include: fever (100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher); cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache; new loss of taste or smell; sore throat; congestion or runny nose; vomiting; and diarrhea.

Face coverings will be required for entrance into the stadium and must be worn in all common areas such as restrooms, concourses, and concession areas.

Fans are encouraged to arrive at Eddie G. Robinson Memorial Stadium and enter the venue, practicing safe social distancing and wearing face coverings in order to promote social distancing and to protect student-athletes, coaches, staff, and fans.

Parking and stadium gates will open two hours prior to kickoff at Eddie G. Robinson Memorial Stadium. No reserved tailgating or recreational vehicles will be allowed. All game day activities outside of the stadium are also canceled for the Spring 2021 season. The Department of Athletics will monitor the ongoing situation and address changes to these guidelines if necessary.

The Clear Bag Policy strongly encourages fans not to bring any type of bags outside of what has been outlined as permissible. Fans will be able to carry the following style and size bag, package, or container at stadium gates/ venue entries: Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12” x 6” x 12” and one-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc® bag or similar). Small clutch bags, approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap can be taken into the stadium with one of the clear plastic bag options. An exception will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at a gate designated for this purpose. An approved logo no larger than 4.5″ x 3.4″ may be displayed on one side of a permissible clear bag.

Prohibited items include, but are not limited to: purses larger than a clutch bag; briefcases; backpacks, cinch bags, and fanny packs that are not clear and/or exceed the size restriction; luggage of any kind; computer bags/cases; camera bags/cases; binocular bags/cases or any bag larger than the permissible size.

Fans will continue to be able to carry items allowed into the stadium in a permissible clear bag, such as binoculars and cameras. Stadium Chair Back Seats should not be any bigger than 17″ wide.

This policy pertains to bags and is not an all-inclusive list of items that are prohibited from being taken into the stadium.

The following items are also prohibited inside Eddie G. Robinson Memorial Stadium: Alcoholic beverages; Artificial noisemakers (includes Megaphones); Animals (other than service animals); Cameras with extended lenses; Containers such as coolers; Firearms; Laser devices; Lawn chairs; Mace or Pocket Knives; Outside food and beverage; Tobacco products; Umbrellas; Video cameras; Bags that do not comply with the Grambling State University Clear Bag Policy.
