Continuing Education & Lifelong Learning

Professional Continuing Education

Professional Continuing Education (PCE) within the Office of Continuing Education & Lifelong Learning (CELL) involves specialized training for professionals in varied vocations many of whom are required to engage in annual continuing education training.  Working in collaboration with academic colleges/departments/schools, PCE is designed to provide training that will lead to certification required by specific professions.  The course content is provided by select academic colleges/departments/schools inclusive of a specific fee.  GSU’s CELL Office assists each of the degree-granting colleges/departments/schools by providing: the recording of CEUs; production of certificates; and, facilitating registration inclusive of fee collection.

Examples of PCE training with select courses offered from GSU’s colleges/schools include:  CPA Certification (College of Business); Social Work Certification (School of Social Work); Nursing Certification (School of Nursing); Teacher Certification (College of Education); Coaching Certification (College of Education via the Department of Kinesiology, Sport, & Leisure Studies); and, Contractor’s Licensure & Training (College of Arts & Sciences); and, Law Enforcement Certification & Training (College of Professional Studies via Department of Criminal Justice).

Certificate Programs

GSU offers a number of Certificate Programs uniquely designed for individuals in the workforce who desire to enhance their professional training, meet certification requirements in a specific field or profession, and to meet the challenges of a dynamic workforce through re-tooling.  These programs are offered in both internal (GSU academic units) and external (private companies) formats.  Certificate programs are also designed to meet Agency requirements for specific vocations.
