Helmets & Heels Raises Over $13K for D.A.R.T. and Grambling State Athletics
Women’s Football Clinic Proceeds Benefit Domestic Violence Awareness
GRAMBLING, LA – August 2, 2019 – This year’s Helmets & Heels football clinic for women was keynoted by Coach Broderick Fobbs and coordinated by the Grambling State University Office of Advancement in conjunction with wives of the University’s football coaches. Over 80 women assembled to raise funds to combat domestic violence and support student-athletes.
“It was an honor to put on an event that empowered women to be engaged in the coming football season,” said Kim Fobbs, wife of the University’s head football coach. “We were proud to have such a great turnout and support D.A.R.T. in addition to the Athletics Foundation.”
Event sponsors Creed & Creed Law Offices, adidas, Origin Bank, First National Bank, Coca-cola, Zion Traveler’s Baptist Church, and Primary Health Services contributed to proceeds, which benefit the Domestic Abuse Resistance Team (http://www.dartla.org) and the Grambling State University Athletics Foundation.
“Helmets & Heels is a fun, informative version of Football 101 for women. Not only is it an exciting way to learn about football, but it’s also a great opportunity to meet the football staff and support a wonderful cause – D.A.R.T.,” said Interim Associate Director of Alumni Affairs Vel Malone. “Our goal is to get women involved in the game and also give back to the community.”
Attendees shopped an assortment of on-site vendors, including The Attitude Salon Boutique, Taylor Made Teacakes, Chic-N-Shyne Jewelry, House of Hautness, Koncious Kulture, and Boss N Beauty.
