Academic Scholarships
There is no application necessary, students are selected based on academic information upon admittance.
Out of State Residents (Priority Given to Students Admitted By Dec. 1)
- ACT 25/SAT 1200 and above - GPA 3.0 and above $5000 Academic Scholarship and Full Out of State Fee Waiver of $9023 per year
- ACT 24/SAT 1160-1190- GPA 3.0 and above $4000 Academic Scholarship and Full Out of State Fee Waiver of $9023 per year
- ACT 23/SAT 1130-1150 - GPA 3.5 and above $3000 Academic Scholarship and Full Out of State Fee Waiver of $9023 per year

*Based on availability of funds and academic performance. Students with the highest SAT/ACT scores and/or GPAs will have the greatest chance of receiving an award. Even if a student meets the criteria listed, there is a chance that he or she will not be awarded a scholarship (based on academic performance of a competitive candidate pool).
*TOPS eligibility is determined by the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Aid and
Scholarships.

- GAP Fund (Apply Online!)
- Student must have a 2.0 cumulative GPA
- Student must exhaust ALL federal financial aid options before being considered for GAP funds. (Subsidized Loans, Unsubsidized Loans, Plus Loans,
- Student may not receive a refund from GAP funds.
- If a student is awarded GAP funds and then receives additional funding from a different source after the GAP funds are posted, the GAP funds may be canceled if the additional award creates a credit balance (refund)
- The maximum GAP award will be $800 (based on availability of funds)

- 100 Horses Alumni Band Scholarship
- Must be an undergraduate continuing or new freshman enrolled full-time at Grambling State University
- Must be a member of the Tiger Marching Band
- Must be legacy (son or daughter) of a former member of the Grambling State University Marching Band
- Living Parent of the student must be an active member of the 100 Horses Alumni Band
- Deceased Parent of the student was an active member of the 100Horses Alumni Band
- Have a Minimum 2.50 high school Cumulative GPA for incoming first-time freshman and a 2.50 Cumulative GPA for a continuing student on a 4.00 Scale
- Be in good academic standing

- Demonstrated positive energy, drive and commitment to excellence as demonstrated through academic achievements.

- 2 letters of recommendation (1 from a professor at Grambling Graduate School of Social Work and 1 from co-worker/friend/previous supervisor who can attest to the applicant’s character and why they deserve this award
- Preference for military dependent currently serving on active duty or National Guard or Honorable discharge Veteran
- Bernadene Coleman-Pope Scholarship
- Only female students enrolled in Grambling State University and pursing a degree in math or science
- Award may be made to an entering freshman or an upper classman whose GPA is 3.0 or higher
- Awards from this fund shall be made in the amount of $2,000 and shall be renewed annually so long as the receiving student maintains a 3.0 GPA
- Should an awardee’s GPA fall below 3.0 in any semester, she will be ineligible for the award in the next semester or any semester in the future
- Bryan C. Griffin Endowed Scholarship for Math and Computer Science ($500)
- Must be enrolled full-time at Grambling State University and in good standing;
- Must major in Math or Computer Science
- Must be a resident of Caddo Parish preference given to resident of Shreveport
- Must have and maintain a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale
- Must demonstrate low to middle income financial disposition; preference given to low income
- Must be actively involved with non-profit organizations that provide opportunities for growth in leadership and/or technology
- Charles E. Grier Non-Endowed Spirit Award ($500)
- Must be enrolled full time at Grambling State University
- Must have a minimum 2.0 high school grade point average
- Must demonstrate need for financial assistance
- Must be a member of the cheerleading team and exemplify team and university spirit
- Must complete 10 hours of community service on or off campus
- Charlotte & Harold Mouton Non-Endowed Scholarship
- First priority will be given to residents of St. Landry Parish
- Second priority will be given to residents of Evangeline Parish
- Incoming Freshman
- Cumulative high school GPA of 2.7 or higher
- Must be PELL Grant eligible
- Qualified candidates who will be first-generation college students within their immediate family shall be given priority
- Write a 500 word essay answering the questions,

- Clifton E. Lewis Non-Endowed Memorial Scholarship
- Must be a graduating high school senior with an achievement of at least a 3.0 high school grade point average on a 4.0 scale
- Will be enrolled full-time at Grambling State University
- Must be a resident of Claiborne, Jackson, Lincoln or Union parishes
- Must submit a recommendation letter from a pastor or church showing their involvement in the church.
- In 500 words or less, explain the role Grambling State University, a historically black college and university (HBCU), has in creating tomorrow’s leaders and how you will use your degree from GSU to impact the world.
- Crescent City Chapter Scholarship
- Enrolled Full-Time at Grambling State University
- Graduating Senior
- Resident of Greater New Orleans Area (Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, Plaquemine, and St. Charles Parish)
- Must have scholastic financial need
- Maintain 2.6 GPA
- Recipient will be required to attend Crescent City Chapter event
- Debbie N. Robinson Endowed Scholarship in the College of Business
- award is open to students, in good standing, who are enrolled full time at Grambling State University
- candidates must have at least a 2.75 grade point average
- special consideration will be given to academic performance with a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) or higher on a 4.00 grading scale; recipients must be in academic pursuit of a major in the College of Business;
- Preference will be given to Accounting Majors; and
- all awards will be subject to the recommendation and approval of the Provost.
- The Earline Jones McCain Educational Non-Endowed Scholarship
- Enrolled full time and in good standing
- Resident of the State of Louisiana or Illinois
- Must have at least a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 grading scale
- Must maintain a cumulative 2.5 during the semester
- Second semester freshman or higher
- Membership in at least one organization in which leadership, mentoring or coaching skills were used
- Involved in a Christian church-either in home state or in college
- Must be a resident of Morehouse or Natchitoches Parish
- George Floyd Scholarship for Social Justice Reform
- Enrolled at GSU and in good academic standing
- Recipients must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 grading scale
- Recipients must have a declared major in Criminal Justice, with an interest in pursuing Law as a graduate goal.
- Hopewell School Foundation Non-Endowed Scholarship
- Recipient must have a relative (mother, father, grandparents) who graduated from either Dubach High School or Hopewell High School
- Must be a freshman
- If recipient is a first semester freshman, must have a high school GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 grading scale
- Must maintain a cumulative 2.5 during the semester
- Enrolled full-time at Grambling State University and in good standing
- Each recipient will be required to attend the Hopewell School Reunion Gala following the initial award.
- James Jackson Delta Sigma Chapter/Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Non Endowed Scholarship
- Enrolled at Grambling State University and in good standing
- Must be an incoming freshman
- Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 grading scale
- Must be a male undergraduate
- Write a short essay (minimum of 100 words) on why you deserve this award from the brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha
- Jennie V. Wilson Scholarship Fund
- Only open to Undergraduate
- Must be enrolled full time at Grambling State University and in good standing
- Must earn and maintain a 2.5 grade point average during the first semester sophomore year
- Students can re-apply if they qualify

- $1,000 award will be made to two students at $500 each-Fall or Spring Semester

- Must be enrolled full time at Grambling State University
- Must have a minimum 2.3 high school grade point average
- Must be a first semester freshmen
- Must be a resident of Morehouse or Natchitoches Parish; or be from Houston, Dallas, San Antonio or Gatesville, TX; or from Pomona, CA or surrounding areas
- Must reside in a single parent household
- Maybe an ex-offender/drug addict
- Person must have a better desire a better quality of life as demonstrated through essay
- Laura B. Spencer GAP Scholarship
- Candidate must be a resident of Ouachita, Franklin, Richland, Caldwell or Morehouse Parishes
- Candidate must be an education major
- Open to all classifications
- Candidates must have a cumulative GPA of 2.3 or higher on a 4.0 grading scale
- Candidates must demonstrate a financial need

- Open only to undergraduate students
- Must have at least a 2.5 high school grade point average

- Residents of Tangipahoa, St. Helena, Livingston, St. Tammany, and Washington Parishes
- Enrolled Full-Time
- All Academic Areas with Priority given to Education Majors

- One candidate shall be selected a total of $1,000 per academic year ($500 each semester).

Scholarship recipients are not allowed to exceed their financial aid cost of attendance. Awards will be reduced or cancelled to prevent an over-award.
