Grambling State University Theatre to present The Bad Seed, by Maxwell Anderson. Performances are March 17-20, 2015 at the Floyd L. Sandle Theatre, located in the Conrad Hutchinson Performing Arts Center.

The Department of Visual and Performing Arts at Grambling State University is pleased to announce its final production of the 2014-2015 season, The Bad Seed by Maxwell Anderson. Colonel and Christine Penmark have the perfect life and the “perfect” daughter, Rhoda. What’s perceived as a sweet, well-mannered child, Rhoda has a devilish side to her, especially when she doesn’t get her way, creating severe and destructive deeds. Curious about her daughter’s actions, Mrs. Penmark starts questioning Rhoda, especially after a classmate mysteriously drowns during a school picnic. What is revealed to Mrs. Penmark is more than just about Rhoda, but how bad seeds grow in us all.

Directed by Chair of the Department, Dr. King D. Godwin, the production staff includes Koree Hill as production stage manager, Joseph Osborne as set designer, Je’Lasa Williams as lighting designer, and Teshia Lincoln as costume designer.

The cast includes: Dawn Clements as Rhoda Penmark, Brenton Douglas as Col. Kenneth Penmark, Melanie Williams as Christine Penmark, Je’Lasa Williams as Monica Breedlove, Ka’Darius Gray as Emory Wages, Ibraheem Farmer as Leroy, Erica Goode-Perry as Ms. Fern, LaRoderick King as Reginald Taylor, Saudia Scott as Mrs. Daigle, Adarian Williams as Mr. Daigle, Franklin Nelson as the Messenger and Willie Miller as Richard Bravo.

Performance dates are March 17-20, 2015, with start time at 7pm. Tickets are $3 for students and $5 for general. Tickets will go on sale starting Tuesday March 10, 2015. Box office will be open from the hours of 2pm-4:30pm Tuesday/Thursday and thirty minutes before performance time. For more information, please call Mrs. Modest at 274-2201.
