
An Associate Professor of Sociology, Dr. Sheptoski came to GSU in 2013 from Pennsylvania, where he taught at Shippensburg University as well as Lock Haven State University. He teaches a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses, including Introduction to Sociology, Social Problems, Social Psychology, Deviance, and Rural/Urban Sociology, and has published in the areas of popular culture and music, the medicalization of deviance, social psychology, and the sociology of education. His hobbies include reading Foreign Affairs and The New York Times and laughing at people in positions of power who lie, scheme, and cheat while presenting straight faces to the public. In addition to teaching at GSU and in Pennsylvania, he has taught at Western Michigan University and Central Michigan University, respectively. Dr. Sheptoski grew up in Michigan.
