Co-Curricular and Support Unit (CCSU) Assessment Committee

Charge

The Co-Curricular & Support Unit Assessment Committee will provide oversight, identify needs, develop recommendation and policies regarding institution-wide assessment of co-curricular and support units in order to strengthen the University and enhance it accountability.  It will also recommend changes in co-curricular and support unit assessment processes; review the usefulness of co-curricular and support unit’s assessment strategies, reporting strategies and feedback processes; and ensure that assessment data are used to inform decision-making at all levels.  The committee will maintain close communication with the President’s Office, Provost’s Office, University Administrative areas, and other appropriate committees.  Committee members will serve in three year, staggered terms.  The Provost appoints the Committee Chair based on recommendation(s) from the Department Head of the Office of Institutional Planning, Assessment, Research, and Effectiveness.

Committee members will be responsible for the following tasks:

  1. Review individual programs’ assessment plan and processes and recommend ways for improvement.
  2. Advise faculty, staff, departments, units, and programs on assessment procedures and methods.
  3. Review and implement policies for reporting assessment data.
  4. Development and implement policies for dissemination of assessment data.

Annual Reporting and Presentation:

A written report shall be provided annually to the President by April 15. This report should summarize the committees during the prior year, provide appropriate statistics and data, and outline planning for the following year.  The report should be approved by the committee members. 

Membership for the Co-curricular and Support Units will consist of:

  1. The Chair is appointed by the Provost, annually.
  2. Staff member from the Office of Institutional Effectiveness.
  3. Two representatives appointed by the Vice Presidents from each area.
  4. One Undergraduate Student who will be appointed by SGA to serve for a one-year term.
  5. One Graduate Student who will be appointed by the Dean of Graduate Studies for a one-year term.

 Meetings will be held monthly during the Academic Year.
