Dr. Cheri Nyegaard- Holbrook, Ph.D., LCSW, ACSW is an Assistant Professor. She joined
the GSU faculty in 2019. Dr. Holbrook has a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from
the University of Louisiana-Monroe, her Master’s in Social Work from Louisiana State
University, Baton Rouge, LA, and her Ph. D. in Social Work from Jackson State University,
Jackson, MS. She is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). Dr. Holbrook has over
25 years of clinical practice in medical social work, psychiatric social work and
gerontology. She has served on national boards of social work and was the national
legislative/advocacy chair for the Association of Oncology Social Workers as well
as a former board member of the National Association of Social Workers, Health Specialty
Section. She teaches courses in practice and policy.
