Biography

Dr. Mahmoud Haj is an Associate Professor of Finance and Economics in the College of Business at Grambling State University. With over 30 years of academic experience in the U.S. and internationally, he has dedicated his career to teaching, advising, and researching in the fields of finance, economics, and education. His academic journey includes advanced degrees from the University of New Orleans, Syracuse University, and Yarmouk University. Dr. Haj is passionate about fostering financial literacy and economic understanding in students at all levels.

 

Teaching & Courses

Dr. Haj has taught extensively across undergraduate and graduate programs, covering a diverse set of subjects in economics and finance. His teaching portfolio includes:

His teaching interests lie in corporate finance, derivatives, and financial markets.

Research Interests

Dr. Haj’s research focuses on emerging financial markets, particularly the Amman Stock Exchange. He has authored peer-reviewed journal articles and conference presentations such as:

  • “Market Efficiency in a Small Stock Exchange: The Case of Amman Stock Exchange”International Journal of Business and Economic Perspective

  • “Volatility in Emerging Stock Markets: The Case of Amman Stock Exchange”International Journal of Business and Economic Perspective

  • Presented papers on stock return determinants and calendar anomalies in emerging markets at the International Academy of Business and Public Administration Disciplines (IABPAD)

He continues to explore new research in finance and economics.

Dr. Haj has actively contributed to academic and professional communities:

  • Session Chair and Discussant at IABPAD conferences (2013–2019)

  • Reviewer for International Journal of Business and Economic Perspectives (2018)

  • Member of key committees at the College of Business, including Faculty Affairs, Strategic Planning, and AACSB accreditation efforts

  • Participated in faculty development workshops on promotion, tenure, and instructional technologies

He is also a member of the International Academy of Business and Public Administration Disciplines (IABPAD).
