Management Department

Mission

The mission of the Department of Management is to assist students in the development of knowledge and skills that are essential for a successful entry into business-related professions and other organizations. Specifically, the department seeks to:

  1. acquaint students with the common body of knowledge needed for an entry-level position in their field of study;
  2. improve the skills of students in the areas of problem solving, communication, and knowledge of related technology;
  3. offer students an opportunity to enrich their knowledge through scholarly programs, including global issues, and
  4. provide social service programs and activities to members of the community.

The Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Management is awarded to those students who complete the 120 semester hours program in Management (including MAN 301 and MAN 420) and meet the University and College of Business graduation requirements. The 27 hours in Management do not include General Business (GB) courses which are required by the Department or the College of Business. Students are encouraged to see their advisor for specific elective courses that will be helpful in their career goals.

Department Resources:

The Department sponsors and supports the Students in Free Enterprise organization and the Management Club. The Management Club sponsors professional development activities such as seminars on how to start a business, job search strategies, surviving corporate politics, and field trips. Membership is open to all GSU students.
