Dr. Olu Omolayole is Professor of Computer Information Systems in the College of Business at Grambling State University, where he has taught since 1994 and earned tenure in 1998. He brings a formidable academic pedigree to the classroom: a Ph.D. (1978) and M.S. (1974) in Computer Science from UCLA, an M.B.A. in Management Information Systems from California State University–Sacramento (1987), and a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Lagos (1971). Prior to academe he worked as a software engineer on large‐scale telecommunications and public-safety projects in the United States and Canada, experience that now informs courses he delivers in programming (C++, Java, Python), systems analysis, software quality, and IT policy.
Across nearly five decades in higher education—at Grambling State, Illinois State, and CSU–Sacramento—Dr. Omolayole has complemented teaching with leadership (acting department head, conference organizer, editor-in-chief of several peer-reviewed journals) and extensive service on AACSB accreditation, curriculum, and faculty-mentoring committees. His research explores technology adoption, IT outsourcing success, e-commerce, and IS pedagogy, and he has co-authored textbooks that translate this expertise into practice-oriented learning materials. Early academic distinctions such as an IBM Pre-doctoral Fellowship and the UCLA Engineering graduating-class address forecasted a career that continues to blend scholarly inquiry, professional engagement, and community service.
